Dear MASHN Members,

As we enter this season of reflection, gratitude, and renewal, I want to share an important update regarding the leadership of the Maryland Association of School Health Nurses (MASHN).  I am also sharing that registration for our annual conference on March 14, 2026, is now open HERE.

MASHN President, Elizabeth (Liz) Elliott, informed the Executive Board in early December that she was not able to continue as President. As the position of President-Elect had been vacant since June, the Executive Board, in accordance with the bylaws, elected Keisha Major (Prince George’s County) to the position of President for the remainder of the current term through August 31, 2027.  We are also pleased to share that Debra Barry (Howard County) was elected to serve as President-Elect.  Keisha, Deb, and Liz are actively engaged in transition activities to ensure stability, continuity, and forward momentum for the important work ahead.

Our first collective action has been to support the Nominating Committee, as two elected members will soon be completing their service due to their new roles (smile). We are grateful to announce the appointment of Chris Ratych to the committee, where she will serve as co-chair alongside Jenifer Waters. Deb will also continue to support the committee as part of her responsibilities as President-Elect.

We extend our deepest appreciation to Elizabeth Elliott, who has dedicated more than four years to MASHN through her leadership, advocacy, and unwavering commitment to advancing school nursing across Maryland. We remain grateful for her past contributions and look forward to her continued support and mentorship as Immediate Past President.

As we close out the year, I want to wish each of you a healthy, safe, and restorative winter break. May the days ahead bring rest, relaxation, and rejuvenation, well deserved after your tireless service to students, families, and school communities across the state.

We look forward to coming together again at our annual conference on the Chesapeake Bay on Saturday, March 14, 2026, where we will reconnect, learn, and continue strengthening our MASHN community. Registration is now available for the annual conference HERE.
